The Rules of the Road – Get Ready for the Driver Knowledge Test

If you want to pass the DKT in NSW, you must know the rules of the road. The good news is there are no tricks or surprises in the DKT - the rules are the same as those for all other road users.

But, it's good to know them anyway, so you can make educated decisions on the road.

So, as a first step, start learning the rules.

undefinedYour Road User's Handbook

Get ready for the Driver Knowledge Test by downloading the NSW Road User's Handbook. It contains information on how to be a safe and law-abiding driver.

undefinedThe Laws of the Road

The NSW Road User's Handbook also contains the laws of the road - the laws you need to know to be a safe and law-abiding driver.

Where to take the Driver Knowledge Test?

It all depends on your state. The main reason for this is that each state has its own road rules. So, if you're in a state where it's a paper and pen test, you'll need to make sure you've got the right books.

If you're in a state where it's a computerised test, then you should know about the exam room you'll be testing in.

So, before sitting the test, be sure you understand the test room layout, where to sit, and what you need to bring.

undefinedHow to Pass the DKT (Drivers Knowledge Test)?

The DKT is a multiple choice test. You may also be asked to indicate your level of experience in driving. So, knowing how to pass the test is just as important as knowing what to study.

Most people who fail the DKT do so because they don't study the DKT enough. They assume they're ready to pass the test the first time.

So, what’s the most effective way to pass the DKT?

The best way to pass the DKT is to be prepared for the real test in every way. That includes:
